Can you see the three snowmen hanging out under the crabapple tree? I had a blast last week making them. The 'personalization' of each one was inspired by garden treasures - a rosehip for a lipsticked mouth on the dressed up lady (who also sports a pine bough 'fascinator'); wild parsnip flower seed branches for hair on another; iris seedpods for hair on the third. Pinecones for eyes; pebbles for (bad) teeth; grapevine tendrils for a mouth and nose; empty milkweed pods for elf-like ears...It was hilarious giving each one its own personality.
This is my absolute favourite tree on our property (the tall pine). You can spot the top of it from the next concession over - about 1.5 kilometres as the crow flies (even though, from that distance, it looks as though it is surrounded by other pines). It is so majestic, and always looks different. These days, its branches are coated in snow, or sometimes hang heavy from ice...or with the mild spells we've had, along with some high winds, its branches have been waving madly, looking very dramatic.
