Crocheted Earflap Hat

I crocheted an earflap hat for my hubby. I based it on this pattern (for a little person), then just winged it (ha! literally) to make it fit my husband's (much, much) larger head. (I didn't do the piece over the forehead in the pattern though. I tried it out but didn't like it.)

It has strings (a crocheted chain) for the tie-ups - which also tie the ear flaps on top of the head/hat, if desired.

He loves it; says it will be perfect for when he goes out to snowblow the lane in winter. (Awesome. I'm just glad *I* don't have to do it.) It fits his head perfectly.

It was fun to make! I'm just a very 'basic level' crocheter, and am not the best at following instructions...so I'm pretty happy with how it turned out, especially considering that I figured out how to make the hat larger, and how to make it fit his head exactly.

Wow - I'm amazed that this is a beginner hat (?). I need to try that. Maybe it will be easier now that I have a rounded needle, and if I start with more practical wool than I did last time.

Once I get this knitted hat done...
