Tricky math, and garlic

Via email, from me at work:

Dear [husband],

True to my significantly astute head for mathematics, I figured out this morning that we in fact planted 350 cloves of garlic, and not the 525 which I had previously figured on. My error was in that I counted 3 cloves for every foot, when in fact there were only 2 cloves for every foot, with one extra at the start of the measuring tape.

Which is exactly why I don't foray into the hobby of carpentry. "Measure twice. Measure three more times. Walk away and make some lunch. Come back and review your measurements again. Heed the feeling that you have probably done it wrong. Leave it til the next day. Realize you made an incorrect assumption. Ask someone to help you. They measure once - accurately - and cut once. Carpentry job complete. Affirm knowledge that you despise math."

So shall we plant another row or two?

Ever yours,
Randa
