We just discovered that robins built a nest in the wild and crazy (i.e. growing out of control) forsythia bush. We trimmed the bush back the other day, and only then noticed the nest. (We'd seen a lot of robin activity in the area, in addition to other birds flitting about...but didn't realize they were living in there!) I reached in the bush this afternoon and stuck my camera over the nest (which is above my eye level) and clicked. To my delight, there were four beautiful eggs in there!
The bright white, starry Ornithogalum umbellatum are blooming all over the yard. They're so cheerful! I can't help but grin when I look at their vibrant clusters.
An old-fashioned favourite, and one I adore in my garden - Aquilegia, or Columbine, as it is commonly known. They spread into the cracks between the stone paths. I'm so weak - I can't bear to rip them out.
